Snap buys NextMind to integrate its BCI technology into its AR glasses
The technology transfer market is very active, and yesterday Snap announced the acquisition of the NextMind company with the aim of boosting its augmented reality platform. The parent of the Snapchat application last year launched a new generation of its Spectacles glasses, providing AR content development kits for them.
NextMind they are a neurotechnology company working on the creation of brain-computer interfaces (BCI), whose first commercial device we tested and analyzed last year, and which will now be integrated within Snap Lab, but working from its current headquarters in Paris.
Snap Lab is the team focused on building cutting-edge hardware devices for Snap’s augmented reality platform, whose two axes are the Snap Camera and glasses Spectacles 3, which since last year are not only capable of recording videos or taking photos, but also have the ability to add AR elements.
