RPA technology in modern business
Russia is one of the leaders in terms of implementation of RPA decisions even against the background of dynamic growth technology on a global scale. Smart automation today need a wide range of industries.
RPA technology (robotic process automation) — an umbrella term for advanced software systems that are programmed to perform tasks which previously required human intervention. The cost of modern RPA products can be 20% of the monthly salary of full-time employees in the average company, but for the money they provide a continuous and error-free operation (assuming that a well-implemented and configured from a technical point of view, and their functionality is aimed at solving important business problems).
Today RPA begins to move in two directions. The first includes the products of Enterprise-level, designed for a specific customer, usually a big company, which has specific requirements for such solutions from the point of view of information security, customization, requirement etc. the Second direction is represented by “easy” solutions “out of the box”, which can deploy and fully configured in a couple of weeks specialist, with it competencies at the level of “confident PC user”.
RPA-functionality and the leaders of its adaptation
Modern RPA can interact with several applications just as a person interacts with them using a computer mouse and keyboard to manipulate the data, ask answers and “talk” with other computer systems, to view reports and identify current problems.
Today springboard RPA – sphere of Finance, joint service centres, HR industry with the highest number of operations per unit time (supply chain, logistics, transactions, returns, etc.), retailing in all its manifestations, industrial production, organizations with formalized documents and large blocks of basic operations. As well as segments where there are serious demands from the state, industry or corporate standards to perform certain procedures.
RPA in Russian
Russia today – one of the leaders of the RPA, and our market is growing faster than global. This is due to the large number of it startups, competencies in this area and the demand for automation from the business in connection with a large number of regulated processes and documents in daily business handling.
Thus, according to the CIO of Moscow, who studied large and medium businesses on the subject of the adaptation of the RPA, 40% of companies such decisions have either been implemented or are pilot projects in one form or another. Problems include relatively small number of formalized business processes compared to the standards documents. In many Russian it companies, the implementation of the project and sales Department are more likely to go through “it so happened”, not some standards like ISO, as it happens in the West. Even when performing very formal tasks, such as drawing up specifications for the purchase of equipment, the leaders we tend to rely more on human than robot. This is definitely a habit and to had to ask someone if anything. After all, how to ask the robot not yet entirely clear, and the complete absence of errors impossible.
The second important aspect of the development of the Russian RPA-market public companies and institutions strive to meet the targets for automation, import substitution, and digital transformation.
Preconditions and obstacles
Automation today has become a tool of competition. The modern market is global, any technological know-how, advanced business model, a new niche – all this is very quickly becoming known around the world. Your model, if it is successful, quickly begin to copy, rethink, implement, scale with the involvement of international capital, etc.
Monopolies: after one or two successful projects should pioneer the explosive growth of dozens of counterparts worldwide. And to compete even in the medium term need to curb costs, improve execution speed while maintaining, and even better – quality. If the business ignores new realities and competes the old fashioned way, the cycle of life is significantly reduced.
The commercial sector, of course, is focused in these projects on cost reduction. And well, when companies or state organizations, all corporate systems are connected, use shared identifiers, handbooks, accounting systems and other information resources. It remains only to determine which processes are the subject of robotics in the first place, to run pilots and based on the analysis of their success to move on.
What prevents the acceleration was weak regulation of the business processes, the expectation of ready-made recipes and solutions. However, RPA is often extremely effective for the most trivial, seemingly task that nobody thinks of as the starting point of the technological revolution in the company. For example, the robot can perfectly make reports to extract meaningful information from a business letter, processing incoming requests. Installation out of the box robotic handler emails to optimize communication on the project will cost 300-700 thousand rubles. Write a similar robot from scratch will be much more expensive, not to mention time and resources. Most interesting is that the solution may be reused on other projects, scaling the benefits of one RPA purchases.
Judging by the current situation on the market, the forecast for annual growth in the implementation of the RPA can be designated at 30% or more in the next five years. In three years we will start to record the appearance of the first large Enterprise implementations, so the technology will achieve the status of core business solutions along with the cloud or XaaS model. Contribute to this scenario and the overall development of digital solutions: the collection and processing of corporate data for training the AI, the development of information channels (5G), the growing role of data Analytics.
As we will see in the marketplace ready-made model RPA scenarios for specific industry. Companies will need to develop their robots – the marketplace will provide a wide range of ready-made templates, which then can be “finished” and configure them according to your needs.
