The companies Niantic and Qualcomm have signed an agreement to include the Lightship visual positioning system in Snapdragon Spaces XR. In addition, both companies are working on a development model for AR glasses that will carry the chipset Snapdragon AR2.
The first objective of the agreement is that developers using the Qualcomm Technologies platform can add the Niantic visual positioning system, so that their digital creations and XR experiences are permanently available in the real world.
The second part of the agreement focuses on both companies collaborating on the development of a lightweight augmented reality device shaped like sunglasses, which can be used outdoors to display information, virtual worlds, maps, outdoor games, etc. These AR glasses would integrate the Snapdragon AR2 chipset that Qualcomm presented yesterday.
