At the beginning, there was a rally at which the speakers, for example, called for “a tolerant coexistence without Pegida”. But then the demonstration started – and the “Train of Love” was more like the love parade. More than 10,000 people celebrated – and for most, the party was probably more important than the political messages. Hardly anyone had banners or posters with them, which hung almost exclusively on the 15 cars. Some campaigned for refugees, others for animal welfare and still others called for the abolition of Gema.
The reissue of the love parade was not without controversy. In 2010, a mass panic broke out at the techno event. 21 People died then.
Maybe it still jerks sometimes, and still the 360°video players do not work equally well in all browsers. But virtual reality makes special experiences possible. With her you can dive deep into situations, as if you were directly on site, and can decide for yourself what you want to see right now – the reporter Susanne Dickel or rather the dancing ravers. Further recordings, for example from the Queen’s Suite in the Adlon or from Christopher Street Day in Berlin, can be found on our theme page.
Our recommendation: Watch the videos on your smartphone or tablet. Here, virtual reality works very well. Youtube, for example, also plays 360°videos. You can control the viewing direction either by swiping on the touch screen or by raising, lowering and turning the device around. In addition, all our 360°videos are collected on Youtube in a playlist.
Alternatively, you can also use the free app “Kolor Eyes” from the French virtual reality company Kolor (Android, iOS). In it you will find this and other 360°shots in the account of the “world”. You control the viewing direction just as you do with Youtube.
For desktop videos, we use Kolor’s video player. Simply navigate with the mouse or with the directional arrows on the keyboard. The manufacturer of our player recommends using the browser “Chrome” from Google for this.
The 360°videos work best with virtual reality glasses. To do this, use the “Kolor Eyes”app and select the “Glasses”icon. If you then play the video and put it in your glasses, you will experience the flight over the lake particularly authentically – as if you were in the middle of it yourself. You can also build such glasses yourself from cardboard, here you will find instructions.
If you still have a problem here and there: With us, it did the same in some browsers. The technology is still in its infancy. But we’ll stick to it. And you can help us improve the experience. Feel free to share your experience with us in the comments section below.
