When selecting Google search results on mobile devices will see the option “View in 3D” which you can then expand to AR, and explore in 3D with your phone. Available content includes a number of animals and scientific content that can be used for educational purposes.

The feature actually started last year, but at that time it included only animal models. Now Google has teamed up with Visible Body and Biodigital to expand the supply of search results AR include scientific content, such as models of the human anatomical systems and cellular structures.

This feature is integrated directly into the Google search in your phone’s browser and supports smartphones with Android 7 or higher and Apple iPhone 6S and above, with iOS 11 and above. All you need to do is to open the selected browser on Android or Safari browser on iOS and find one of the supported themes. The results display the option of viewing a 3D model- just click “View in 3D” and then “View space”.

Due to the presence of several anatomical systems, and various cell structures, the functionality of the AR can be a really valuable and interactive tool in science education. This is especially useful in the current environment, when many children are currently enrolled at home because of a global pandemic, but still can have access to a phone that supports AR.

Anatomical 3D human model include the digestive system, respiratory system, skeleton and more. There is also a large number of cellular structures such as mitochondria, cell membranes and plant cell. Given that the tool was recently expanded and now includes scientific content, it is hoped that in the near future there will be even more supported search results.
