Distribution welcomes virtual reality with open arms

Fnac has won exclusive sales of Facebook’s Oculus Rift in magazines.

High-end virtual reality is becoming more and more palpable. After the release of the HTC Vive last June at a limited number of resellers (Fnac, Boulanger, LDLC, Cdiscount…), the distribution welcomes from this Tuesday the Oculus Rift of Facebook. But to try this headset, the consumer will have to turn to Fnac: the brand has landed the exclusive distribution of the Oculus Rift in store, alongside Amazon.fr for online sales.

“The key to success for virtual reality is demonstration. You can’t understand the value of this technology without trying it,” says Olivier Garcia, Fnac’s director of video, gaming and music. The brand will be at the forefront of this market, with, in a few weeks, more than 70 stores allowing to try at least one of these high-end headsets (Oculus, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR from October 13), in addition to traveling demonstrations.
