Basic Troubleshooting Oculus Quest(2) — common problems care and maintenance
If you’re new to VR, can be a bit difficult to understand what the problem is, when something goes wrong. Here is a small guide to common problems with the Oculus Quest and Quest 2, as well as basic Troubleshooting tips, care and maintenance.
Common problems, Troubleshooting basic malfunctions
If you encounter any error, poor performance or pop up errors, and you can’t understand why this is happening, a full reset of the headset usually helps. Operating system Quest can sometimes falter, and sometimes it merely requires a restart to return to maximum performance.
Be sure to fully restart the headset via the power menu, and not just translate Quest into sleep standby mode. To do this, hold the power button and select “Shut down” or “Restart”. A full power cycle usually resolves basic and unidentified problems. If you are unable to access the menu, you can also hold down the power button until the headset turns off, and then re-enable it.
Problems with the tracking and storage

If the picture on your Quest looks blurry, not quite right or just not safe, you may need to adjust the IPD setting on the headset. It physically changes the distance at which the lenses are to each other in the headset. The eyes are different, and setting the IPD helps to set the lens for optimal eye distance from each other. Although it is possible to measure IPD and match it with the setting, most people can often spot that looks “right”, by trial and error.
In the original Quest the headset has a fully adjustable slider on the bottom left.
On Quest 2 headset has 3 preset distances IPD, which can be adjusted by moving the lenses further from each other or closer to each other. Lenses Quest 2 locks in one of 3 available locations, visible marked 1, 2 or 3 between the lenses, one for each setting.
