AR technologies participate in the Electric Daisy Carnival in Vegas
Use Snapchat to locate your favorite artists and find friends in the crowd.
Earlier this month, we announced a new partnership between the social media app Snapchat and the American event organizer Live Nation, in which AR lenses will appear at several concerts across the United States. These include Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC), a legendary electronic music festival currently taking place in Las Vegas.
Those lucky enough to attend the concert in person can use their smartphones to access four unique AR filters powered by the Snapchat app. Each of the location-based lenses works in tandem with the EDC experience. For example, one lens is designed to help you navigate the festival area so that you can quickly find your favorite artists. Another revives EDC’s iconic “owl” in AR during live performances.
List of AR Effects:
Night Owl Lens – The iconic EDC owl will hover overhead. Segmentation of the sky precisely places it in the space around you.
Daisy Lens – grow flowers from the ground around you.
AR Compass – find out who is performing on each stage (and who is next) on the AR map of the festival territory.
Friend FindAR Lens – If you and your team enable location sharing in Snapchat, you will be able to accurately determine directions and distances from each other.
Electric Daisy Carnival will be held from May 20 to 22 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
EDC is just one of several Live Nation concerts that will receive AR filters. In the future, you can expect Snapchat’s original AR lenses for such popular events as Lollapalooza in Chicago, Rolling Loud in Miami, The Governors Ball in New York and Wireless Festival in London.
