    90 Chrome with default HTTPS

    Google has released a Chrome 90 in the Stable desktop channel. A new version of the browser includes a number of performance improvements, security and some changes for developers. Perhaps the most important improvement of the new version is the introduction of HTTPS as the default Protocol (it was HTTP). Moreover, here we also have a new printer, the further implementation of the search function cards and an additional layer of protection against attacks such as NAT Slipstreaming.

    Below, we will closely monitor the changes the developers have made a new version of the Google Chrome browser.

    HTTPS as the default Protocol

    With the release of Chrome 90, HTTPS is the default Protocol for this browser. This means that if a user types in the URL address that does not have at the beginning https://so , it will be considered as a HTTPS connection. Previously, if someone entered the address without https:// or https://then Chrome automatically perceived him as HTTP.

    The goal is to make HTTPS the default was, in particular, increase safety and speed up your browser, as there is the need to redirect from HTTP to HTTPS.

    However, as we can read in the article on the Chromium blog, the IP addresses, a single label domains are also reserved the host names, such as checking whether local, next will be the default used materials from HTTP.

    Let’s see how this change is like the Chromium blog:

    AV1

    Chrome 90 introduces a new tool that has to speed up your browser by using tools for video conferencing. AV1 will work for solutions that are based on WebRTC.

    According to Google, which benefits from the introduction of a new codec that is, for example, the ability to run video for users who are connected to the network with low bandwidth (video 30kbps or below). AV1 is also improving the exchange screen, which was not in VP9 and other codecs.

    Google claims that AV1 is very effective if we are talking about compression – on the one hand, this reduces the bandwidth requirements on the other-improves picture quality.

    Changes for developers

    In Chrome 90 we can find a lot of new improvements and changes made in the development of the browser page. So, here we have, for example, a new CSS property overflow that overflow: clip. It works like hidden:

    .overflow-clip {
      overflow: clip;
    }

    Moreover, Feature Policy API has also been named again: now her name is a Permissions Policy.

    There is also a new method of implementation, and the use of Shadow DOM, and you can do it directly in the HTML. Still they did this by developing a shadow root using Javascript, and this was the only way. In Chrome 90 appears, and DRI Shadow HOUSE that does not need JS, because it uses only HTML.
