13 best VR games of fall 2018

It seems that only yesterday we talked about what kind of VR games await us in 2018, and now September has come. Most of the announcements are left behind. But not all. The developers have saved something for last.

The VentureBeat resource has collected 13 of the most significant virtual reality games this fall.

Firewall: Zero Hour

Platform: PlayStation VR

Release: available now

The highly anticipated competitive shooter from First Contact Entertainment. Two teams, each of which can have up to 4 people, will have to converge for life and death, attacking or defending. The game has been compared to Counter-Strike and Rainbow Six. For the best experience, we recommend using PlayStation Aim controllers.

Firewall game: Zero Hour

Bow to blood

Platform: PlayStation VR

Release: available now

The author of this collection, Jamie Feltham, admits that he had no intention of adding Bow to Blood to this list until he played it. Tribetoy’s PSVR debut, it turns out, is a winning mix of strategy and battlefield combat. You will have to pilot flying ships and fight in a futuristic world.

Intriguing new puzzle game and first internal project from Aspyr. Explore the gloomy abandoned mansion of the mad scientist Lawrence Telbot in order to investigate the cause of his mysterious disappearance many years ago.

Zone of the Enders 2: The 2nd Runner – MARS

This is a complete remaster of Konami’s cult classic Zone of the Enders 2, first announced at the Tokyo Game Show last year, with full VR support.

An exciting action game in the form of a battle of piloted robots awaits you.

Ubisoft’s next VR game is developed in partnership with Elijah Wood’s SpectreVision. This is a psychological thriller that mixes CG and live action elements to create a mysterious and disturbing exploration of the mind. There is a free demo on PSVR.

Creed: Rise to Glory

Platforms: Rift, Vive, PlayStation VR

Release: September 25

Raw Data and Sprint Vector developer Survivos is back with another knockout. Creed is based on the latest movies in the Rocky franchise, and you have two motion controllers to blast your way to the top. Survivos’ new Phantom Melee technology promises more immersive and compelling boxing than we’ve seen so far in VR.

Astro Bot: Rescue Mission

One of the unexpected success stories of PSVR in 2016 was a small minigame in the free Playroom VR collection. Sony Japan is now bringing this experience into a full-fledged game. You will have to work your way through several levels to rescue your adorable robotic friends. This game is sure to be a great addition to your PSVR library.

Evasion

Archiact, the developer of Waddle Home, is trying to make its next big VR shooter. Evasion includes hellish shooting gameplay in which you fight your way through an alien planet. PS Aim support on PSVR is sure to make this experience more immersive.

Defector

Don’t forget about this extremely promising spy game from developer Wilson’s Heart Twisted Pixel, which is expected to arrive later this year. Stylish gameplay with addictive gunfights, skydiving and more. Expect great play.

Another game is getting VR support! Well, sort of. It’s actually an escape-style DLC game where you have to solve puzzles. A multiplayer mode will be added to it, in which players become “mimics” disguising themselves in the room. A human controlled player will have to find them.

Echo Combat

Last year, Oculus Connect promised a sequel to the excellent Echo Arena, and it looks like it will launch soon. Echo Combat will offer skirmishes in superb gravity-free arenas. There are already a few promising beta releases for the game, so expect this to be one of the big Rift games in the next few months.

A fisherman’s tale

The developer of the game Firebird: La Peri studio Innervision is preparing a VR project, with incredibly inventive puzzles.

You play as the fisherman Bob, who lives in his tiny house, oblivious to the world around him. When the radio broadcasts a storm signal, you need to get to the top of the lighthouse and turn on the lights. But outside you will find something quite different from what you thought.

Space junkies

Platforms: Rift, Vive

Ubisoft has a competitor for Echo Combat, which will also arrive this year. Space Junkies is another zero gravity shooter in which you get bonuses and weapons by blasting other players in space.
