There were more than 2 billion euros raised by startups working in artificial intelligence in 2017 and this is three times more than the previous year, reveals the annual report on the subject of the French investment fund Serena Capital.

To prepare this report, the venture capital firm – which invested in 14 AI companies — selected 512 transactions that corresponded to its definition of a data and artificial intelligence company. Serena Capital has classified them according to five criteria of the “data chain”: collection, interpretation, actionable data, storage space and processing.

Among these companies, Serena has identified “the leaders of AI in Europe” for raising more than 20 million euros in one round in 2017.
